Tiny Art Show - Kolman Pryor Gallery
September 10 - October 22, 2016
I was asked to be a part of a tiny art show where the rules established that the dimensions of your work should be no more than six inches at their longest. Naturally, (as an installation artist,) I made dozens of a tiny planter, with my favorite air plants.
In addition to air plants, this show gave me an opportunity to reopen an avenue back to my favorite photography work where I separated layers of my photographs onto transparency and suspended them inside tiny acrylic//wood "shrines." (or, you know, tiny, precious objects.)
The idea of the tiny show interested me conceptually because you as the viewer would have to try all angles, avoid and embrace reflections, investigate minuscule plant growth. There is something profound and private about finding the little things for yourself.
